What is Jeuveau? Meet “Newtox”
Jeuveau® (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is an FDA-approved injectable made by Evolus, nicknamed “Newtox.” It is designed specifically to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (the “11s”). Like Botox and Dysport, Jeuveau is a form of botulinum toxin type A that works by relaxing the muscles that create expression lines, so it can also be used in the crow’s feet, forehead, or other common off-label areas for Botox-type injectables.
Unlike its counterparts, Jeuveau was developed purely for cosmetic use from the start. It also uses a purification process called Hi-Pure™ technology. For many patients at our Rancho Cucamonga practice, Jeuveau has become a favorite for its fast onset, smooth results, and approachable pricing.
Inland Cosmetic Surgery is an official Evolus partner practice, which means we have a direct relationship with the manufacturer and our team is trained specifically in administering Jeuveau for natural, beautiful results.
Is Jeuveau right for me?
If you have been bothered by vertical lines between your eyebrows, forehead lines, or crow’s feet beside the eyes, these expression lines can be treated with Jeuveau.
This treatment also may be a great fit for:
- Patients who want to try a newer alternative to Botox or Dysport
- Anyone seeking a budget-friendly entry point into neurotoxin treatments
- Patients exploring preventative “baby” tox injections to help slow the development of new expression lines
- Anyone looking for quick onset of results
During your consultation, our providers will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and determine whether Jeuveau or another neuromodulator in our lineup is the best match. Sometimes we recommend combining treatments (like Jeuveau with dermal fillers) for a more comprehensive refresh based on your goals.
Jeuveau vs. Botox vs. Dysport: What’s the Difference?
All three products we offer are excellent, FDA-approved neuromodulators made from botulinum toxin type A. We carefully evaluate every product before adding it to our medspa lineup.
The best choice depends on your goals, anatomy, and budget, so our injectors like to ask you about those first before proceeding with a certain treatment. To help you prepare for your appointment, here is a quick comparison of our 3 neuromodulators:
| Jeuveau® (Newtox) | Botox® Cosmetic | Dysport® | |
| FDA approval year | 2019 | 2002 | 2009 |
| Designed for | Aesthetic use only | Aesthetic & medical | Aesthetic & medical |
| Onset of results | 3–4 days | 3–7 days | 3–4 days |
| Duration | 3–4 months | 3–4 months | 3–4 months |
| Manufacturer | Evolus | Allergan | Galderma |
| Known for | Aesthetic-focused, faster onset | Longest track record | Faster onset, broader diffusion |
| Pricing | Starts at $12/unit | Starts at $12/unit | Starts at $5/unit |
A few things worth knowing:
- Units are not always interchangeable between brands. (If your current Botox dose is 20 units, that doesn’t mean 20 units of Dysport will give you the same result—you’d need more Dysport units per area, which is why Dysport pricing is lower per unit).
- Jeuveau units are roughly 1:1 with Botox units.
- There are no known risks associated with switching neurotoxin brands.
The bottom line: your provider’s experience and injection technique matter more than the brand on the vial.
What to expect during your Jeuveau treatment at Ahava Medspa at Inland Cosmetic Surgery
Consultation
Jeuveau is available at both of our medspa locations, Ahava Medspa (at the same location as Inland Cosmetic Surgery) and at Made You Look. You will get comfortable in one of our private treatment rooms and speak with your injector about your goals, what concerns you have, and any questions about the treatment options available. Together, we will determine if Jeuveau is a good fit for your needs.
Treatment
Using a very fine needle, your provider will inject small, precise doses of Jeuveau into the targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch—totally tolerable, though we are happy to apply a topical numbing cream beforehand if you’d like extra comfort. The whole treatment typically takes 10–15 minutes.
Recovery
You are free to head back to your day right after treatment. For the first 24 hours, we ask you to avoid rubbing the injection sites, bending over for long stretches, or doing strenuous exercise. A little redness or minor swelling at the injection sites is normal and usually resolves within a few hours. Expect to start seeing softening within 2–3 days, with full results by two weeks.
