Dermaplaning Rancho Cucamonga

Let us optimize your skin’s healthy cell turnover with a medical-grade exfoliation

If your skin is in need of a fresh start, dermaplaning is a straightforward, non-irritating facial that gently exfoliates the outer layer of skin for a baby-smooth glow. Almost anyone can benefit from dermaplaning—it’s safe for all skin types and tones, and it can be safely combined with many of our other facials.

What is dermaplaning?

During your dermaplaning procedure, your aesthetic provider gently (and painlessly) passes a sterile surgical scalpel over your skin’s surface in light strokes. They will carefully remove only the outermost layer of skin and vellus hair (peach fuzz). Treatment takes about 30 minutes, and there is no downtime required afterwards. You will see brighter skin instantly.

Dermaplaning does not use any potentially irritating products or serums; it simply offers the benefits of exfoliation, which helps to increase healthy cell turnover to promote smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

What can dermaplaning treat?

Dermaplaning can improve a number of common concerns, including:

  • Uneven skin texture
  • Dull skin tone
  • Clogged pores and acne breakouts
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars

Note that it is important to undergo routine dermaplaning treatments to see an improvement in the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Is dermaplaning safe for my skin?

Dermaplaning is safe for nearly any skin type or tone. It’s even safe if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dermaplaning may not be for you, however, if you have sensitive skin, experience certain skin conditions, or are using certain medications. Talk with your provider ahead of time if you have active acne breakouts, eczema rashes, rosacea breakouts, sunburn, sensitive skin, are undergoing cancer treatment, or have an inflammatory skin condition. Also let us know if you are taking Accutane for acne or using Retinol (tretinoin) before treatment.

Is there any downtime after dermaplaning?

No, there is no downtime needed after dermaplaning, so you can resume your normal activities after your appointment. We do suggest avoiding makeup the day of your treatment to prevent any irritation, but be sure to wear a gentle sunscreen formula to protect your skin from UV rays.

How many dermaplaning treatments do I need?

While one treatment will be beneficial, routine dermaplaning treatments lead to an even stronger improvement—especially if you have acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. You may choose to schedule a series of about 3-6 treatments as often as every 4-6 weeks.

What treatments can enhance my dermaplaning results?

Dermaplaning is safety combined with a number of facials that we offer at Ahava Medspa for achieving complementary results:

  • Microneedling for smoother fine lines, diminished acne scars, and more
  • Chemical peels to target discoloration and wrinkles
  • AviClear for targeting mild to severe acne
  • Any of our specialty facials, such as our Clarifying Acne Facial, Ahava Dermal Quench Facial, or Ahava Celluma Facial

As always, a key part of extending your results from any skin treatment is using medical-grade skincare at home! During your dermaplaning appointment, ask your provider about their recommendations for your unique complexion.
