Digital Skin Analysis

We are excited to introduce the VISIA Digital Skin Analysis System. This new imaging system that has been featured on the Tyra Banks Show, is a diagnostic tool that allows us to visualize and measure skin blemishes and wrinkles above and below the surface of your skin. This allows us to customize a skin care treatment program for you to specifically target your problem areas with complexion, age/dark spots, UV damaged areas, wrinkles and more.

By visualizing the damaged areas beneath your skin, we are able to prevent further damage and restore your skin’s youth, texture and health. With this added capability and use of the skin analyzer we can systemically diagnose, develop a holistic plan and address all your cosmetic skin needs not only by surgery but also by non-invasive laser care. To find out more information and see how the VISIA system can benefit you, contact our knowledgeable esthetician, Marlene to schedule your complimentary skin care consultation.

VISIA™ Digital Skin Analysis is an exciting technological innovation that uses a multi-spectral imaging system to identify problem areas of your complexion, allowing for a customized skin treatment program that specifically targets these areas.

The VISIA Digital Skin Analysis is the first diagnostic tool to provide clinical measurement of surface and subsurface epidermal irregularities and pigment conditions. VISIA’s photographic technology captures a clear, multi-dimensional image of select facial areas, while examining the severity of various age-related conditions such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation (age/dark spots)
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin tone evenness (color variation)
  • Porphyrins (evidence of bacterial growth)
  • Sun damage (UV spots)

Here at Inland Cosmetic Surgery, we recommend that a Digital Skin Analysis be performed during your initial one-on-one Skin Evaluation, as the results of the analysis provide the framework for creating a personalized facial rejuvenation programs that are designed to obtain optimal improvement in your skin color and texture. In some cases, an additional analysis may be performed following a recommended treatment program.

Once your VISIA imaging session is complete, our medical esthetician will provide you a detailed complexion report that focuses on specific problem areas, compares your results with others your age, and included treatment recommendations specifically for your complexion.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to perform a VISIA Digital Skin Analysis?
We usually schedule one hour for a VISIA Digital Skin Analysis during a one-on-one skin evaluation. During the appointment, your medical esthetician (or nurse) will examine your complexion and ask you to complete a Skincare History form to become acquainted with your skincare routine, allergies and any skin health issues. She’ll discuss how you’d like to improve your skin, perform the Digital Skin Analysis, discuss product and treatment recommendations based on the results and also address how you can improve your complexion through nutrition.

How often do I need to have a VISIA Digital Skin Analysis?
A copy of your initial VISIA Digital Skin Analysis, which provides a baseline on the health of your skin, will be filed in your skincare chart. Depending on your skin condition and goals, your medical esthetician (or nurse) may choose to perform an additional analysis to measure the effectiveness of treatment and determine further treatment options.

Will I experience any discomfort during the session?
No. There is no discomfort involved in the VISIA Digital Skin Analysis.

Is there a minimum age recommendation for a VISIA session?
No. A VISIA Digital Skin Analysis can be done at any age. It is typically done when a skin health issue needs to be addressed with a facial rejuvenation program or a preventative program.

What is the cost of a Digital Skin Analysis?
To encourage as many individuals as possible to undergo this simple process, we charge only $45, which includes a one-on-one skin evaluation with an experienced medical esthetician (or nurse) and the VISIA Digital Skin Analysis.

At The Skin Center Medical Spa, we offer the most comprehensive assortment of clinically proven products and treatments. You can feel comfortable knowing that the most appropriate combination will be recommended for your unique skin condition.

PARISIAN PEEL
Skin Renewal Process

( Micro-Dermabrasion )

Smoothes and freshens your skin.

It's not a chemical, not a laser, not a surgical procedure, but the ultimate in microdermabrasion.

A precision handpiece is used to direct a stream of very fine crystals and mild suction exactly where it is needed on your skin, removing the dead outer layer of your skin, bringing smoother, softer skin to the surface.

Following this simple, affordable 30-minute treatment you can return immediately to your daily activities. It usually takes 6-12 treatments to obtain the maximum result. We have found even better results when alternated with Glyolic acid peels.

The PARISIAN PEEL is effective in treating:

  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Age spots
  • Superficial pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged or oily pores
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Acne scars

    Series of 6      $660.00
    Individual        $150.00

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a mechanical way of resurfacing the skin. It is suited for lesions on the surface of the skin or on the upper third of the dermis. Post acne scars, traumatic scars, surgical scars, lentigens (aged spots), aged skin, etc. It is usually performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation or general anesthesia. A diamond bur or other abrasive instruments can be used to remove the top layer of the skin. A dressing is then applied which is changed within 24 hours. The skin heals within the next 7-10 days. Patients can experience some redness and itching during the healing phase.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels use a variety of chemicals, usually acids, to remove the top layer of the skin. There are different degrees of chemical peels and are classified according to the depth of penetration. They can be split to 3 main categories: Superficial, Medium, Deep.

1 — Superficial Peels affect only the top most layer of skin, epidermis. Superficial peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve the skin color and tone.

In our office, we offer:

  • Creams that are applied on a daily basis such as the smoothing gel that is based on Glycolic Acid.
  • Specialty creams such as the Obagi line, IS Clinical and Retin A, which will all give a mild exfoliation of the top layer of skin.
  • Peels that our esthetician performs such as the Vitalize and Refinity peels. These peels are medical grade peels that can only be performed in a physician’s office but since they are superficial they can be performed at lunchtime and cause minimal redness and flaking.
  • Obagi Blue Peel which is based on trichloroacetic acid or TCA, is ideal for damaged skin and hyperpigmentation (brown spots) on the face and body.

Obagi Blue Peel:

The Obagi Blue peel is an in-office procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to slow penetration, the Obagi blue peel removes the thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface.

After the procedure, you will experience light swelling, and your skin will begin to peel within 2 to 3 days. This peeling will continue over the next 7 to 10 days. If you are having a lighter, exfoliative Obagi Blue Peel, healing is completed in 3 to 6 days. In any case, this peeling should not disrupt your regular lifestyle for long, although you may want to limit your normal activity.

Vitalized Peel

Clinically proven to increase collagen and epidermal thickening. Using a unique blend of Retinoic, and Alpha-Hydroxy acids, this peel improves acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines.

    Series of 3    $441.00
    Individual      $175.00

Refinity Peel

Experience the benefits of medical strength Alpha-Hydroxy acids (AHAs) - without the high irritation commonly associated with this type of product. Refinity can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while visibly improving your skin's color, tone, and texture

    Series of 3      $441.00
    Series of 6      $750.00
    Individual        $175.00

2 — Medium Depth Peels affect the epidermis (top layer of skin) as well as the dermis (deeper middle layer of skin). A 25-35% TCA solution is the most commonly used medium depth peel used in our office. It is usually performed under light sedation or under general anesthesia when combined with other procedures such as facelift, brow lift or eyelid surgery. The skin turns brown in color and then flakes off over a course of 7 days. Following flaking off of the skin, a new layer of skin underneath is exposed which is revitalized and has a smoother texture, better tone, color, with less fine lines. The patients are placed on skin care products at least 4-6 weeks prior to the peel to prepare their skin for the peel. Our patients overall have been extremely happy with the results of the TCA peel.

3 — Deep Peels enter the deeper layer of dermis and are usually based on phenols. These peels require a longer recovery and are suited for patients with severe sun damage and wrinkling on skin that cannot be corrected with other methods of peeling.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser Resurfacing uses heat generated from a laser to dissolve the top layer of skin. This is basically a controlled burn of the skin and is more accurate and safe way of performing deeper peels. In our office, we use the CO2 laser. The patients are placed on skin care products at least 4-6 weeks prior to the peel to prepare their skin for the laser. After the peel, their skin gradually sloughs off over a period of 7-10 days. The newer skin that is underneath is generally red in color for 4-6 weeks and then pink in color for 3-6 months. After the 1st 7-10 days, the redness can be easily camouflaged with makeup, which our esthetician will demonstrate to you in a complimentary session of makeup application.

The CO2 laser skin resurfacing has basically replaced the deeper chemical peels in our office, due to it predictability in our office. We often combine the laser resurfacing with eyelid surgery, facelifts or other facial rejuvenative procedures. The laser is excellent in shrinking a lax lower eyelid skin and improving lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. It also improves skin tone, color and texture. For further information on any of these peels, feel free to contact our office to schedule your personal consultation with our esthetician, Marlene, or Dr. Haiavy.

Wrinkle Treatment

FILLING LINES AND WRINKLES

One of the first signs of aging are lines and wrinkles on the face. Although Botox and collagen have been the first line treatment for the past ten years new products are becoming available and approved by the FDA. In march of 2003 a new form of collagen CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast gained approval by the FDA. These are made of collagen derived from human cells grown in a lab. They are better than Zyderm and Zyplast which are bovine derived collagen in a sense that there is virtually no chance of reaction and no need for skin testing a month prior to treatment. The newer collagen seems to last as long as the old collagen approximately three months and it also is mixed with some local anesthetic which gives the patients some analgesia. More recently, Restylane was approved by the FDA as a dermal filler. Restylane is made of hyaluronic acid a substance naturally found in connective tissue. It is non animal based and therefore does not require testing. It is also longer lasting than the collagen fillers and lasts approximately six months. Hylaform is another filler made of hyaluronic acid that has recently been approved by the FDA. Both Restylane and Hylaform can be used to fill depressions, lines, scars as well enhance the lips like collagen. In our center at the Inland Cosmetic surgery Medical Corporation the patients are encouraged to try temporary fillers in combination with Botox prior to using permanent fillers or surgical correction. Our patients overall have been very satisfied with Botox, CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast and are thrilled with a new filler that lasts longer.

Fat Transplantation

People have always tried to improve their appearance since the beginning of civilization. Disfigurement of the skin has been particularly distressful for many. With the advent of new fillers there are excellent procedures available to correct such skin defects such as deep furrows and wrinkles on the face. Depressions on other areas of the body can also be corrected through a procedure called autologous (from the same individual) fat transplantation. This procedure can help contour the face, enhance the cheek and chin and correct facial or body deformities.

Fat is removed from a donor site and then re-injected into the recipient site. This can be done under local anesthesia or IV sedation (twilight sleep). The process is repeated until the desired amount of fat has been transferred and the defect is corrected.

With this procedure, problems of rejection or allergic reactions are not factors, because the fat is transplanted within the same body. Recovery time is very short and patients are usually up and around the day of surgery. The only downside of fat grafting is that some of the fat may dissolve and the patient may need additional fat grafting procedures to achieve the desired contour.

Fat grafting is a way of restoring lost volume and proportion in the face through minimal incisions and minimal scars with a fairly quick recovery.

The appearance of facial and neck skin is often one of the first signs of aging. Facial tone and wrinkles can be treated with skin resurfacing. Skin resurfacing refers to the process of removing the outer layer of the facial skin and stimulating new skin regeneration. The new skin that is formed is generally smoother, nicer in texture and the appearance of lines is diminished. Depending on the depth of skin resurfacing process, the skin can be tightened as well. As with all skin resurfacing, pre-operative preparation and post-operative care are important.

Ultrasonic Facial

This new machine allows usage of ultrasonic technology to rejuvenate the skin. IT is highly effective, yet gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. It is safe and suitable for all skin types WITH NO DOWN TIME. Some of its advantages are:

  • exfoliate dead skin cells for a clearer, healthier complexion without the redness and irritation sometimes associated with Microdermabrasion
  • loosen and remove oil, dirt and cellular debris from follicles for cleaner, healthier skin. Pores diminish in size and bacteria levels are reduced
  • gently stimulate skin to produce collagen and elastin. Fine lines and wrinkles are diminished; skin is restored to a smooth, youthful glow and maintained with regular treatments
  • aid in penetrating skin care products deep into the skin. Less product is required, and it is more effective as it penetrates and acts deep within the skin

Ultrasonic Machine can treat a variety of skin conditions:

Acne
The ultrasound vibration helps to break-up follicular deposits of oil, dirt and dead cells — a veritable breeding ground for bacteria. Ultrasonic frequency has been shown to kill bacteria and decongest the pores resulting in cleaner, healthier skin.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Helps stimulate and promote collagen and elastin production for more youthful skin. It also helps with hydration. The "plumping" of the skin fills out fine lines and wrinkles.

Sensitive Skin
Yes, this is an excellent treatment for sensitive skin, even those with Rosacea. Pure, filtered water and hydrating serum is used during the Peel Phase. It is gentle and non-irritating. During the Infusion Phase, only products formulated for sensitive skin are used. No longer will your sensitive skin and/or Rosacea prevent you from exfoliating!

Liposuction Adjunct
This excellent technology can also be used after Liposuction procedures to help the patients recover faster by reducing swelling and improving the lymphatic flow. This ultimately results in a more even contour and a smoother result after Liposuction.
