Eyelid Lift in Rancho Cucamonga

Aging eyes can make you look tired or even angry, but they’re no match for our experienced cosmetic surgeons

The eyes account for a large part of the expression of the human face: they project an array of emotions including happiness, sorrow and fear. It is the contour of the skin, muscles, fat, hair, and lashes around the eyes that convey these expressions.

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is an operation that corrects sagging eyelids as well as bags and bulges about the eyes. These conditions may occur as a result of aging or as a result of genetic predisposition in younger individuals, which leads to laxity of the eyelid skin and protrusion of fat around the eyes. The result can be marked changes in expression causing a tired and an older appearance and, in severe cases of skin laxity, visual impairment.

The blepharoplasty procedure that we perform can restore your youthful look and improve the way people see you.

  • Improved Appearance of Eyelids: Blepharoplasty can remove excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper and lower eyelids, resulting in a more youthful, awake and refreshed appearance.
  • Reduced Eye Bags: The procedure is effective in reducing under-eye bags and puffiness, which can make a person appear tired or older.
  • Correct Droopy Eyelids: Blepharoplasty can correct drooping upper eyelids that may impair vision and give a tired or aged look.
  • Enhanced Vision: For some individuals, blepharoplasty can improve vision by lifting droopy eyelids that obstruct the visual field.
  • Natural-Looking Results: When performed by a skilled cosmetic surgeon, blepharoplasty can produce results that look natural, complementing the overall facial features.
  • Minimal Scarring: The incisions in blepharoplasty are typically made along the natural lines of the eyelids, which means any scarring is usually well-concealed.
  • Long-Lasting: The results of blepharoplasty can last for many years, making it a long-term solution for improving the appearance of the eyelids.
  • Quick Recovery Time: Compared to other cosmetic surgeries, blepharoplasty generally has a shorter recovery period, allowing patients to return to their normal activities relatively quickly.
  • Complementary to Other Procedures: An eyelid lift can be combined with other cosmetic procedures, such as a brow lift or facelifts, for more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
  • Anesthesia: Medications used to prevent pain during surgery. In eyelid surgery, it can be local (numbing the eye area) or general (patient is fully asleep).
  • Blepharoplasty: The medical term for eyelid surgery, a procedure to improve the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids.
  • Canthopexy: A surgical technique often used in eyelid surgery to tighten the lower eyelid by repositioning the lateral canthal tendon.
  • Ectropion: An outward turning of the lower eyelid, sometimes a risk or complication associated with eyelid surgery.
  • Edema: Swelling that occurs after eyelid surgery, common during the healing process.
  • Eyelid Ptosis: Drooping of the upper eyelid, which can be corrected with eyelid surgery.
  • Incision: A surgical cut made during eyelid surgery. In upper eyelid surgery, it’s typically made in the eyelid crease; in lower eyelid surgery, just below the lash line or inside the eyelid.
  • Lower Blepharoplasty: Eyelid surgery performed on the lower eyelids to remove excess skin, reduce wrinkles, and improve bagginess.
  • Recovery Time: The period required for healing after eyelid surgery, including guidelines for care and activity restrictions.
  • Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty: A technique for lower eyelid surgery involving an incision inside the eyelid, leaving no visible scar.
  • Upper Blepharoplasty: Eyelid surgery performed on the upper eyelids to remove excess skin and fat, helping to improve vision and appearance.
  • Vision Obstruction: A condition where excess upper eyelid skin droops low enough to impair vision, often a reason for upper blepharoplasty.

The eyelid surgery procedure

Both upper and lower eyelid lift surgery can be performed either under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia in which the area is numbed. Following the natural lines and creases, one of our cosmetic surgeons will make a small incision in the eyelid skin. Through these incisions, excess skin, fat, and/or muscle is removed based on the individual problems. In certain cases, a laser can be used to perform the operation. The laser helps minimize post-operative swelling and bruising.

The entire staff ranging from office, patient coordinator, surgeon and anesthesiologist showed the highest level of professionalism and customer service. During my follow up visits I was shown concern and care from the staff and doctor. I feel more confident and am happy when I look in the mirror.Real Inland Cosmetic Surgery patient Read more patient reviews

Eyelid surgery can be combined with skin tightening, laser resurfacing treatments like ICON Laser Skin Resurfacing and Excel V+ Laser Treatments, or a chemical peel of the lower eyelid to help rejuvenate the skin and decrease the lines in the lower eyelid skin and crow’s feet area.

This female patient saw a significant reduction in eye bags. She is shown 1 year after a lower lid lift with a canthopexy lift and fat transplant to her under eyes.

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty

In cases where there is bulging fat without excess skin in the lower eyelid, the procedure can be carried out through an incision inside the lower eyelid. This procedure is called transconjunctival blepharoplasty. In addition to avoiding a scar on the lower eyelid, it also minimizes chances of developing post-operative complications such as lid lag.

Recovery after eyelid surgery

Most of our patients report very little discomfort after an eyelid lift, though we can prescribe medication to help with any pain in the first few days. Your incisions will have sutures for about a week, but you won’t leave the office with bandaging.

Some swelling and discoloration are normal, but this should resolve within around 10 days, and patients can use makeup on the area after the first week to camouflage any residual bruising. You’ll likely be feeling up to your normal activities in about a week, though you’ll need to avoid strenuous tasks and exercise for at least two weeks.
