Chemical PeelsIn general, chemical peels are made up of a variety of chemicals, usually acids, to remove the top layer of the skin. There are different degrees of chemical peels and are classified according to the depth of penetration into 3 main categories: Superficial, Medium, and Deep. Superficial Peels affect only the top most layer of skin, epidermis. Superficial peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve the skin color and tone. In our office, we offer:
Obagi Blue Peel:
After the procedure, you will experience light swelling, and your skin will begin to peel within 2 to 3 days. This peeling will continue over the next 7 to 10 days. If you are having a lighter, exfoliative Obagi Blue Peel, healing is completed in 3 to 6 days. In any case, this peeling should not disrupt your regular lifestyle for long, although you may want to limit your normal activity. Vitalize PeelClinically proven to increase collagen and epidermal thickening. Using a unique blend of Retinoic, and Alpha-Hydroxy acids, this peel improves acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines.
Refinity PeelExperience the benefits of medical strength Alpha-Hydroxy acids (AHAs) - without the high irritation commonly associated with this type of product. Refinity can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while visibly improving your skin's color, tone, and texture
2 Medium Depth Peels affect the epidermis (top layer of skin) as well as the dermis (deeper middle layer of skin). A 25-35% TCA solution is the most commonly used medium depth peel used in our office. It is usually performed under light sedation or under general anesthesia when combined with other procedures such as facelift, brow lift or eyelid surgery. The skin turns brown in color and then flakes off over a course of 7 days. Following flaking off of the skin, a new layer of skin underneath is exposed which is revitalized and has a smoother texture, better tone, color, with less fine lines. The patients are placed on skin care products at least 4-6 weeks prior to the peel to prepare their skin for the peel. Our patients overall have been extremely happy with the results of the TCA peel. 3 Deep Peels enter the deeper layer of dermis and are usually based on phenols. These peels require a longer recovery and are suited for patients with severe sun damage and wrinkling on skin that cannot be corrected with other methods of peeling. |
