Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
View Eyelid Surgery before and after photos. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is an operation that corrects sagging eyelids as well as bags and bulges about the eyes. These conditions may occur as a result of aging or as a result of genetic predisposition in younger individuals, which leads to laxity of the eyelid skin and protrusion of fat around the eyes. The result can be marked changes in expression causing a tired and an older appearance and in severe cases of skin laxity, visual impairment. The blepharoplasty procedure that we perform can restore your youthful look and improve the way people see you. Surgical Procedure: The operation can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia in which the area is numbed. Following the natural lines and creases an incision is made in the eyelid skin. Through these incisions excess skin, fat or muscle is removed based on the individual problems. In certain cases, a laser can be used to perform the operation. The laser helps minimize post-operative swelling and bruising. Transconjuctival Blepharoplasty: In cases where there is bulging fat without excess skin in the lower eyelid, the procedure can be carried out through an incision inside the lower eyelid. This procedure is called transconjuctival blepharoplasty. In addition to avoiding a scar on the lower eyelid it minimizes chances of developing post-operative complications such as lid lag. Eyelid surgery can be combined with ReFirme, laser resurfacing, or a chemical peel of the lower eyelid, to rejuvenate the skin and help decrease the lines in the lower eyelid skin and crows' feet area. |
